12 mo warranty not worth the money

purchased this player 2 yrs ago and literally only used it about 8 times. remote still works but the player does not respond to it any more. the player does not have a select button so i can't watch a dvd because when it starts up you have to press the select button at the menu to start the movie. i paid up for the samsung but should have just bought a cheaper model if it has the same warranty. i won't make that mistake again.

Disappointing !!!

While watching a movie, a black screen occurs every 10 min or so. Very annoying and unpleasant. Tried to update to the latest firmware but via usb it is pointless since the file that you get when you unzip is a MSD file and not a .ruf file and then is not valid once in the player. This is ridiculous. Next step, get rid of my samsung HD player and samsung 4K TV and turn to Sony or LG.

I've had this player since 2018 as it was one of the more affordable options. While you cannot connect to a network via WiFi, you can connect via Ethernet cable. As of April 2020 I found I was having problems playing the odd disc and after browsing I found that this particular player had a Dec 2019 firmware update available. After reading one of the previous reviews I was dismayed to see that apparently you could not update this player via USB and had to use Ethernet only. With the router being in my housemate's room this just seemed like an awkward way to go about it. However, I decided to plug in a USB stick with the extracted update file I downloaded from the Samsung software website on it and once you go to Settings > Update it will ask you if you want to search the USB drive for updates. Sure enough it found the necessary update file and installed it with no problems. Took all of 1 minute, the device restarted and the discs are now working. I haven't had any other problems with the player and it's still operating perfectly in 2020. Only rated it 4 stars due to lack of WiFi but considering the reasonable pricing for this unit, you get what you paid for and you can always connect via Ethernet if you're desperate for network-only disc features. Literally only leaving this review in case any other users have problems with discs not playing and are accidentally led to believe they cannot update via USB due to the previous review.

Garbage- Inferior picture- Poor support

18 months old. Will not update. All Hassle, all the time. Picture is far inferior to my similar age LG unit in the 2nd room. So in summary, this unit will not play most new movies without an update but updates are not very frequent and usually involve a hard reset and a total do over. Add that the picture is wholly unimpressive, my opinion is that nobody needs to spend money for junk like this.

Bought in 2018. It's late 2019 and it no longer supports the newest BluRays from Redbox. Had to wire it into a router, update software. Nothing. Downloaded firmware to USB and ran in unit. Nothing. On "service chat" for 30min. Nothing. I will NEVER buy Samsung disc players EVER again.

Good 4K DVD HDR video and audio playback

Purchased on sale from Amazon. Connected to a 4KHDR compatible TV with exppanded color gamut. Good 4k Blu ray playback and upscales standard Blu ray discs to near 4k resolution.Wi Fi connection with ethernet worked well. All current audio formats including Dolby Atmos and DTS Master audio supported. 3D Blu ray playback and coaxial audio output only features missing that would still be useful. I prefer coaxial audio output to optical toslink due to durabilty of coaxial cables, particul;arly with longer cable runs.

I've had this unit a week and while the 4K is a definite improvement over my standard Sony Blu Ray, I'm finding many features on My SonyBDP-S370 I miss. The biggest problem is limited access through the remote. Too many steps to set cc on/off or simply display information. The info screen doesn't stay up for more than a few seconds, and there is no explanation what all the symbols represent. I've looked through all the documentation I can find. I'm still determining if I keep this or return it for a SONY.

SDR/HDR issues and no firmware via USB

This player has great image quality when it works but there are two issues. First is that HDR is not turned off often when viewing SDR content via a Samsung TV. So the darks are crushed. Fiddling by turning of HDMI Deepcolor or changing resolution seems to reset this. Second Samsung has for whatever reason chosen not to make the firmware update via USB and only via Ethernet. So if you don't have an Ethernet connection then no firmware update for you.

1080p Blu Ray looks TERRIBLE

When I pop in a standard blu ray disc, the picture looks absolutely terrible. The darks are insanely jarring and the picture seems slotchy. When I playback a blu ray on my PS4 Pro, the picture looks fantastic so I know it is for sure this player that looks off.

This was my very 1st 4K UHD Blu-Ray Disc Player and I love it. After updating it I played a few discs and it's one of the best players I have ever owned. Blu-Ray Disc play very well and the video quality is amazing. I also did buy 2 4K UHD Blu-Ray Disc Avengers: Infinity War and Justice League so I can't want to test The HDR features on the player. Also I like the apps selection on the player via the Samsung Apps Hub. Good player and I rate this a 5/5 !!!

No Wifi Capability

I ordered this product knowing that it had Smart features, so naturally I assumed it would be compatible with Wifi. However, when I went to set it up, it could not connect to Wifi and needed to be connected to an ethernet cable to a router. I wanted to use this product in a different room than I have my router, and I don't have a cable jack in the intended room. As a result, these features are worthless to me. I don't understand how a device can have Smart capabilities but not have the ability to be used wirelessly?? We are in 2018... Samsung - I would love to return this product but can't seem to find a return button anywhere on my order even though I ordered this product less than a month ago. Waste of money in my opinion.

This is my first Blu-ray DVD player. Combined with my Samsung QLED TV, it provides an incredible movie experience. As a homebody, I am really enjoying this. When I went to view my first DVD, I had difficulty finding the captions; so I called Samsung tech support. The tech support on the phone helped me get into the disc menu. From there I found the SDH option: subtitles for Deaf & Hard of Hearing. Man on the phone was great.

I purchased this to replace my older blu--ray DVD player. Because of my IP I am having trouble updating the DVD player. I love the upscaling feature. My only issue is no LED display for track, time, etc. as well as the super small power on/off light.. I consider myself among Samsung's best customer. Their products are top shelf. I currently own 3 Samsung LED TV's and will not buy any other brand. Thanks for making the best LED TV's on the market.

I bought this Samsung DVD Blu-Ray player because I had a new Samsung TV and Sound bar and my old DVD player would not work.On line suggested staying Samsung was best. I had to call Samsung support to get the TV to see my new player, they were great. Still now and then I get a no signal message and I have to repeat everything to get it to work. Otherwise works great. My only other complaint would be the LED indicator on the unit are on top and hard to see, brighter and on the front would be nicer!
